When pension reforms were introduced to the PSNI a simple way of calculating the impact of changes was required for all members. IWC Actuarial engaged the BeingOnline development team to create an online pension calculator as a bespoke web application for the Northern Ireland Police Federation. The system allows users to easily calculate the impact of pension reforms on their projected pensions by visiting a secure webpage and entering their individual details.

Initially the complex actuarial data was transferred into a secure backend database to facilitate users in the completion of a data entry form. A responsively designed website was created with an equally strong user experience for both mobile and desktop users to conveniently submit their data. On submission a revised pension projection is then presented in PDF format. The application has been successfully adopted by the client’s customer base as demonstrated by a well-supported backend reporting system which logs all calculations and a PDF generator.
