John Crane

Founded in 1917, John Crane is one of the world’s leading providers of engineered technology. When the BeingOnline team adopted the previous iteration of JohnCrane.com, we devised a three step road map. Our initial tasks involved upgrading the Sitecore version, migrating the hosting into a Microsoft Azure environment and debugging the code base. When these fundamentals were taken care of, we embarked on a major redesign of the user interface through gaining an understanding of John Crane’s website users.

After surveying website users, we created a hierarchy of user tasks which focused on product related searches. Customer journeys were mapped throughout the user interface using consistent signposting. We also reduced the amount of superfluous content to make a more visual interface while improving the on page SEO by retaining the key words and phrases. When the new interface was launched, we focused on the third stage of the road map which was to improve website performance and on page optimisation with huge improvements made in Google LightHouse and SEMRush scores. Further development will include multi-language versions.
